Design Tips 1 - Generative recolor
Make it stand out
Inevitably, there comes a time when you've completed a design but feel uncertain about the color scheme. Changing these colors can present a unique set of challenges. In June 2023, Adobe Illustrator introduced an AI tool that offers a wide array of options to modify a design's color on the fly. THIS VERYPOWERFUL AI tool is called Generative ReColor.
Before we begin, copy your design to the side to preserve the original (note that, in rare cases, this resource-intensive tool might crash your system). And we always want to keep our original in tact.
Begin by highlighting the design (grouping it may be helpful to get the best, consistent results).
Navigate to the Edit menu.
Select Edit Colors.
Then choose Generative Recolor. You’ll find nine pre-set color schemes to pick from, or you can enter a description in the prompt field. Initially, four variations will appear.
If the results aren't satisfactory, just click "Generate" again.
Once you find a version you like, click on the design to change your design's color scheme.
Click off the newly changed design to apply
If you're feeling adventurous, and want to take things a step further Advanced Options to fine tune any desired changes. Otherwise, just click in an empty, gray space on the canvas, and your changes will be finalized. This tool is a remarkable resource for rebranding ideas, allowing for rapid exploration of different colors, hues, and monochromes, something that would traditionally require an arduous amount of time. If you weren't aware of this tool, enjoy its benefits! And if you were, share this tip with a friend or colleague.
